Karl-Heinz Danilowski ( German: Karl-Heinz Danielowski ; born , ) - a German rower , helmsman , who played for the German Democratic rowing team in 1960- x and 1970s. Biography

Karl-Heinz Danilovsky was born on March 31, 1940 in the commune of Sulcetal . He was trained in the city of Rostock at the local Forverts sports club.

The first serious success at the adult international level was achieved in the 1964 season, when he joined the East German national team and played at the European Championships in Amsterdam, where he won a gold medal in the oars steering double program. Successfully joined the United German team , assembled from athletes of the GDR and the FRG for joint participation in the Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo . Started here in the steering deuces, but selected only in the consolation finale B, where he still won first place. Thus, it is located in the final protocol of the competition on line 7.

He represented East Germany at the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico City , played in the eights and again could not get into the main final, showing the seventh overall result.

In 1970, in the steering fours, he became the silver medalist at the World Championships in St. Catharines , losing to the West German team at the finish line.

At the European Championships 1973 in Moscow, he added a gold medal won in the eights to his track record.

In 1974, at the world championship in Lucerne, he took fourth place in the eights.

Thanks to a series of successful performances, he was awarded the right to defend the country's honor at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal - as part of the crew, which also included rowers Bernd Baumgart , Gottfried Dön , Roland Kostulski , Hans-Joachim Luke , Dieter Wendish , Ulrich Karnaz , Karl-Heinz Prudel and Werner Clatt , took first place in the eights program, ahead of the pursuing boat from the UK by more than two seconds, and thereby won the Olympic gold medal. For this outstanding achievement at the end of the season he was awarded the Order of Merit to the Fatherland in silver [1] .

In addition to playing sports, he served in the Naval Forces Volksmarine , had the rank of captain-lieutenant . Subsequently, he worked as a military economist.
