History
The original name of the settlement is Rezanoye Novy Pochinch at the Bolshaya Medyan River, the second name in honor of the Church of the Icon of the Mother of God “Sign” built at the end of the 18th century at the expense of the owner of the village, Alexander Ivanov, son Bakhmetyev. The church was built in 1791. At present, the church has been lost (source - RGADA, General and special land surveying summer cottages, 1746-1917, Fund 1354. List 441. Part 1.) At the beginning of the 19th century, the owners of the village were landowners Melgunovs, which is reflected in preserved confessional paintings of the Church of the Sign. In 1861, as a result of peasant reform, the village became the administrative center of the Znamensky volost of Kurmysh district.
