History
The boulevard pumping station is one of two stations designed to supply the second district of water supply in Kiev (“Medium Pressure Area” - Khreschatyk with adjacent streets, “ New Building ”, Cadet Corps, freight station and Bibikovsky Boulevard ). It was built in 1908 to directly supply the district waterway (Bibikovsky Boulevard, Mariinsko-Blagoveshchenskaya Street ) from three artesian wells (No. 13, No. 19 and No. 20).
Architectural Features
The station was designed taking into account existing artesian wells. Its structure included a brick building of the station, two brick superstructures ("booths") above wells No. 19 and No. 20 and a one-story wooden house of the caretaker.
The station building is a one-story T-shaped, with a basement, of different heights: the engine room is higher than the mesh. The roof is gable, without an attic. In the mesh compartment there is a staircase to the basement, to the tanks. The style of the building has signs of Art Nouveau and brick style. On the facade there is a minimal decor with rustic blades and a belt of crackers.
