The National Art Museum of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) is the largest art collection in the north-east of Siberia located in the city of Yakutsk . The museum collection contains works by foreign, Russian masters of the 16th β 20th centuries, a wide panorama of the art of Yakutia of the 18th β early 21st centuries.

The history of the museum dates back to the distant 1920s and is associated with the Sakha Keskile (Future of the Yakuts) research society, in which the section of art from the very beginning was headed by outstanding figures of national culture, literature and art P. A. Oyunsky and A. I. Sofronov . November 8, 1928 the opening of the picture hall at the Regional Museum of Local Lore. In 1946, the picture hall, with the active participation of ethnographer S. I. Bolo, the first artists of Yakutia P. P. Romanov, M. M. Nosov, was transformed into the Yakut Museum of Fine Arts. In 1970, the Yakut Republican Museum of Fine Arts was named after Professor M.F. Gabyshev. In 1995, on the basis of the Yakut Republican Museum of Fine Arts named after Professor M. F. Gabyshev, the State Museum Art Complex "The National Art Museum of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia)" was created with branches: Harbalakh Art Gallery (Tatta ulus), Vilyuchansk Art Gallery (Suntarsky ulus), Namsky Museum of Art (Namsky ulus), Tiksin Museum of Culture and Art of the Arctic (Bulunsky ulus). The most significant part of the collection is the art collection of Yakutia of the 18th β 20th centuries. - painting, graphics, sculpture, folk and arts and crafts. The section of the Yakut carved bone is unique - a craft known since the 18th century (caskets, part-timers of the 19th century), a rich heritage of craftsmen, laureates of the State Prize of Russia named after I.E. Repina - T.V. Ammosova, S.N. Pestereva, S.N. Petrova, works of modern bone cutters. An extensive collection of traditional national art: art metal, wood carving, birch bark products, horsehair weaving, patterned sewing and bead embroidery on fur and fabric.
Art of the twentieth centuries. represented by all types and genres, styles and trends, includes monographic sections of the leading artists of Yakutia: painters I.V. Popov, P.P. Romanov, M.M. Nosov, A.N. Osipov, E.I. Vasiliev, I. E. Kapitonova, A.D. Vasiliev; schedules by E. S. Sivtsev, V. R. Vasiliev, A. P. Munkhalov, V. S. Karamzin, M. A. Rakhleeva, M. G. Starostin, T. E. Shaposhnikova and many others. The permanent exhibition is located in the main three-story building of the museum in the city center, where the most complete collections of fine art of Yakutia, decorative and applied art, works of famous artists of Russian and Russian art of the 17th - 20th centuries are presented.
