Biography
Born in Moscow in Zamoskvorechye . In 1947 , after graduating from school, she entered the Faculty of History of Moscow State University .
In 1952 she graduated with honors from the university [2] and voluntarily left to work as a secondary school teacher in the village of Izvarino, Krasnodonsky District, Voroshilovgrad Region [3] .
Having returned to Moscow, she entered the graduate school of the Faculty of History of Moscow State University (supervisor - E. N. Gorodetsky ) [4] . Since 1957, she began working as an editor at Politizdat , where she participated in the publication of biographies of prominent scientists, leaders of the party and the Soviet state [2] [5] .
In 1962, she moved to the Institute of History of the USSR Academy of Sciences , where she worked until her last days, first in the sector of the history of historical science under the leadership of MV Nechkina [2] , then in the sector of the history of Soviet culture [2] . While working at the institute, she prepared some sections of the publication Essays on the History of Historical Science in the USSR, was a member of the editorial board and author of the multi-volume publication Cultural Life in the USSR. 1917 - 1977. Chronicle ", as well as" History of cultural construction in the USSR. " Gradually, her research interest focused on the topic of training young historians in the early years of Soviet power [2] . In 1964 she defended her thesis on this topic and published a monograph [6] . She later published a book on the fate of the Soviet intelligentsia in the 1920s [7] , which formed the basis of her doctoral dissertation (1983) [8] .
At the end of the 1980s, she participated in the revival of historical local history in Moscow and the creation of the Moscow Local History Society (1990) [9] , the definition of its strategy [2] [10] . She was one of the initiators of the revival of the commission "Old Moscow" (1990), participated in its work. Member of the editorial board of the historical and local lore almanac "Fatherland", member of the Presidium of the Central Council of VOOPIiK , member of the Moscow Street Names Commission under the Government of Moscow, member of the expert council for Moscow studies , deputy chairman of the Moscow Local Lore Society [11] .
She published dozens of works devoted to the history of Moscow: its houses, streets, necropolis [12] , place names, biographies of Muscovites, as well as the history and problems of Moscow studies [13] [14] [15] [16] . The initiator, composer and one of the authors of the bibliographic reference “Historians and Local Lore of Moscow: Necropolis” [17] . One of the authors, compilers and editors of three collections of "Local Lore of Moscow" (1991-1997), containing about 50 popular science essays about researchers of the capital of the XVIII – XX centuries with a bibliography of their works [11] .
Society for the Study of the Russian Manor (OIRU)
In October 1991, representatives of about twenty Moscow scientific, educational and publishing centers unanimously spoke out for the revival of the Society for the Study of the Russian Estate . This idea was supported by Academician D. S. Likhachev , and in December 1991, the Russian Culture Fund approved the program “Revival of the Russian estate” [18] . Performing one of its main tasks, the scientific and social council, headed by L.V. Ivanova, carried out organizational preparations for the reconstruction of society. April 22, 1992 OIRU was recreated. Its charter was adopted, the board and the revision board were elected [18] . The emblem of the society of the artist A. I. Kravchenko is also preserved. In 1992-1995, L.V. Ivanova was a member of the board, and in 1995-1999, he was the chairman of the OIRU [2] .
| The main objective of the Society is to contribute to the revival of the Russian estate as a monument of history and culture, which means that our goals are not only to study the estate and the estate culture, but also to protect and restore the preserved manor architectural and park ensembles, as well as to search and implement the most appropriate methods for including estates in the modern cultural and economic environment. The estate should live a full-blooded life and play an active role in society, helping to shape its culture, - this is how the new OIRU presents its main task, L. V. Ivanova [18] . |
The initiator, compiler and one of the authors of the first five issues of the OIRU collection of works “Russian Estate” (1994–1999), the book of essays “The World of the Russian Estate” [19] and “The Manor Necklace of the South-West of Moscow” [20] . Under the leadership of Ivanova and with her participation in the IRI RAS in 2001, a monograph “Noble and Merchant Rural Manor in Russia of the 16th – 20th Centuries: Historical Essays” was prepared and published [21] .
She lived in Moscow on City Street , at 2/7 [11] . She was buried in the columbarium of the Don cemetery [22] .
In 2012, the Union of Local Lore Scientists of Russia prepared and published the collection “Lyudmila Vasilievna Ivanova - a local historian, a Moscow historian, a country estate scholar,” which included the memoirs of her sister, scientists, local historians, and members of the Institute of International Relations. A separate part of the book was 26 of the most significant works of L. V. Ivanova on local history, Moscow studies, various problems of Russian estate culture [1] .
