Filming
In the film, director Jimmy Chin is in and his team struggled with making the film without affecting Honnold’s rise. According to director Elizabeth Tea Vasarheli The key to solving this problem was advanced training [4] .
One of the biggest difficulties was getting sound from Honnold, who was often too far from the camera to use wireless microphones. Meanwhile, the wiring of the microphone could not interfere with his climbing, and any tape recorder on his body would have to withstand the difficulties of climbing. To solve the problem, they turned to production engineer Jim Hurst, who himself was a climber. He used a recorder that could transmit a signal to the camera, but also record for himself when the camera was out of range.
The film was shot by National Geographic Partners [5] , the majority owner of which is 21st Century Fox , and the rest is owned by the National Geographic Society [6] .
