Julia Akimova about the play “House of Sleeping Beauties”:
“The performance begins as a ritual - either a theatrical performance in principle, or a stylization of some of the techniques of traditional Japanese theater. A blow to the gong, the rattle of a metal sheet at the beginning, the small, mincing gait of the mistress of the House, the black lines of intricate hieroglyphs are such cultural attributes of Japan. These specific characteristics of the scene are mated in the play with the cosmicity and universality of a given space. Behind external exoticism and bizarreness lies an attempt to say that it does not depend on national characteristics ” [8] .
Decades later, viewers recall Alceste in the acting performance of Georgy Vasiliev in the Moliere's "Misanthrope" at the Comedy Theater, directed by Pyotr Fomenko . Vera Biron (Museum of F.M. Dostoevsky) :
“My first impression of Georgy Vasiliev turned out to be the strongest - light, brilliant, ironic and subtle in every sense of Alcest in the play by Pyotr Fomenko. ... Our constant communication began already in the museum, during the creation of the mini-play "European Travels", and then - "Hug and Cry", one of the best performances by Dostoevsky. I saw George different - enthusiastic, gloomy, witty, sarcastic, funny, sad, but always in him there was some kind of tragic break and total loneliness. He was fragile and strong, talented and weak, joyful and unhappy, but invariably ironic, even wit about his illness.
He died alone. Not fully appreciated, not all lived. Bright, sad misanthrope ” [9] .
