Born on January 23, 1928 in Moscow. He graduated from the Moscow Energy College (1947), the Faculty of Physics of Moscow State University (1952, with honors) and graduate school in the Department of Mathematics. In 1955 he defended his thesis on the subject “Change of eigenvalues when changing the border of the region” (supervisor - A. A. Samarsky , future academician). He worked there: assistant (1955-1961), associate professor (1961-1970), since 1970 professor at the Department of Mathematics of Moscow State University.
In 1968 he was awarded the degree of Doctor of Physics and Mathematics, the theme of the dissertation was “Wave propagation in a plasma across a magnetic field”.
In 1974 he moved to the Institute of Atomic Energy. I.V. Kurchatov to the post of head. the laboratory. At the same time he continued to work at Moscow State University concurrently as a professor in the departments of computational mathematics, mathematical physics, then at the Department of Research Automation. He gave lectures on mathematical analysis, analytical geometry and linear algebra for first-year students of the Faculty of Physics (1963-1974), a special course "Mathematical Models of Plasma Physics" for 4-5th year students of the Faculty of the VMK (1974-2002).
