History of the Mausoleum
The mausoleum is included in the memorial ensemble, consisting of a mosque and a tomb , the construction of which dates back to 11 - 12 centuries. In fact, these are several structures built at different times. But they are so attached close to each other that it is difficult to even imagine what the original appearance of the structure was. Who was Astana-Baba himself, no one knows. The place where the mausoleum is located is considered sacred and healing. The Astana-Baba complex also has the mausoleums of Zeid-Ali and Zuweid-Ali [2] . The Gyzlar-Bibi Hall, which dates back to the 18th century , is especially popular among female pilgrims as the latest extension.
Description of the Mausoleum
The mausoleum is a structure of flat adobe bricks and consists of four halls, which, apparently, were erected as new burials appeared. In one of them, empty, prayer rugs are spread out, there is a prayer hall. In the other three, there are graves of saints.
Legend of the Mausoleum
In one of them, where there are two graves, there are signs with the inscriptions "Zeid Ali" and "Zubeid Ali" [3] . The appearance of one of them is narrated by such a legend. According to legend, the ruler of Balkh (the territory of present neighboring Afghanistan) gave his beloved daughter for a noble man Zem (present Atamurat). The girl died on a foreign land. The grieving father erected a mausoleum for her, which several times collapsed. The old man who dreamed about the governor advised to bring land and water from Mecca, which is sacred for all Muslims. He obeyed, they began to mix the delivered land with clay, and poured water into the well (it is still here), from where they then began to take it for construction. However, the ruler did not wait for the completion of the construction, and the father and daughter were buried nearby. The water in the well, from which, according to legend, took water for the construction of the mausoleum of Zeid Ali and Zuweid Ali, is considered a saint. According to another legend, the noble brothers Zeid Ali and their wives rest in the mausoleum.
