History
The history of the port of Kobe began with the harbor in Hyogo, which since ancient times flourished as a transport hub on the sea route between the western and eastern provinces and a center of trade with the continent.
During the New Age (1868-1945), as a result of the expansion as a center of international trade , the port of Kobe became known as one of the leading ports in the world. For example, in the 1970s, the number of containers handled at this port was the highest in the world. [one]
In the city of Kobe, which is the country's internal region through which trade flows pass, many buildings have survived where foreign colonists lived in the Meiji era . In addition to architecture , the atmosphere of these exotic Japanese city blocks by the sea, as well as the Harborland entertainment district and Maryken Park, make the port and its surroundings a popular tourist attraction.
