It flows between the Savyolovskaya railway and Dmitrovsky highway north of the Moscow Ring Road . The source is the springs of Torfyanka [1] in the North-Eastern Administrative District of Moscow. It flows to the north, in the lower half it flows through the villages of Vinogradovo , Gorki , Gribki (all are the urban district of Mytishchi ) and the city of Dolgoprudny . It falls into the Khlebnikov backwater of the Klyazminsk reservoir .

In the upper reaches of the river, ponds Bolshoi Yuzhny, Tsentralny, Severny were formed.

In the middle course, Long Ponds are formed . The exact date of their occurrence is unknown, in the very first mentions of the 16th century it is said about the village of Tyurikovo, which is on the ponds [1] (now this place belongs to Moscow). Near the main pond is the estate Vinogradovo .

The river has an influx of Stinky Little, which was so named because of the smell that spreads from it. According to this stream, effluents from the Northern water treatment plant fall into Meryanka, and then into Klyazma [1] .

One of the streets of Moscow near the river is called Meryanka .
