Deep ellum

Deep Ellum is a trendy residential area located in eastern Dallas ; was founded in 1873.

It is one of the most historically significant areas of the city. He gained his fame thanks to Robert C. Munger’s cotton processing business and the opening of one of his first automobile factories by Henry Ford. Both buildings are currently local attractions.

They also include the historic Lakewood Theater, popular botanical gardens, Vickery and Brian Squares, Union Bankers Trust Bank building located on Vyazov Street 2551 (1916), Palace Shop on Main Street 2814 (c. 1913) and Park Brothers Warehouse on the street Elm 2639 (c. 1923). The area is famous for its trendy restaurants and wine cellars.

Deep Ellum is best known for his craving for music. By the 1920s, the area had become a haven for early jazz and blues musicians. Over the next few decades, Blind Lemon Jefferson, Robert Johnson, Huddy Lidbelly Ledbetter, Texis Bill Day, Blind Willie Johnson, Lightnin Hopkins, Alex Moore and Bessie Smith and others will be performing in it. Between 1920 and 1950, the number of nightclubs, cafes and domino salons in Deep Ellum grew from 12 to 20. Today, Deep Ellum has more than 30 music venues, making the district one of the largest entertainment centers in the state.

The post-war period adversely affected the development of music in Deep Ellum. Only in the 1980s, the music scene of Deep Ellume was restored, it began to help develop local groups and attract music artists and fans from around the world.

Since its inception, Deep Ellum has become a place of attraction for artists of various directions who demonstrate their creativity with the help of street frescoes and public art.

Traditionally, Deep Ellum is the place where works of art are created, sold and distributed. Today, beautiful and creative paintings can be seen in musical institutions and restaurants on the streets of the district.

Since 1994, Deep Ellum has hosted the Deep Ellum Arts Festival, which is a street party within one block. At present, the free community festival gathers more than 100 music artists performing on five stages, 200 artists demonstrating and selling their works, spontaneous street performances.

Deep Ellum is also the meeting point for many art companies, including photographers, tattooists, gallery owners, recording studios and graphic designers.
