The Cathedral of Christ the King ( Fr. Cathédrale du Christ-Roi de Gitega ) is a cathedral belonging to the Catholic Church, located in Gitega in the province of Gitega in central Burundi .

The cathedral follows the Latin rite and is the cathedral of the archbishop of Gitega ( lat. Archidioecesis Kitegaensis ), which was established on November 10, 1959 by Pope John XXIII , who published the bull Cum parvulum , which raised the apostolic vicariate of Gitega to the rank of archdarchy.
On September 5, 1990, Pope John Paul II visited the council as part of his tour of African countries [1] [2] .
Since January 24, 1997, the cathedral has been under the pastoral responsibility of Archbishop Simon Ntamwan [3] .
