In 1989, the Museum of Kobzar Art was opened in Pereyaslav-Khmelnitsky. The museum’s exposition was located in the house of 1903 [1] (according to other sources - 1904) [3] built. The museum was opened during the celebration of the 175th anniversary of the birth of T. G. Shevchenko [3] .

The museum exhibits portraits of famous Ukrainian kobzars, including those who lived in the Pereyaslav region. Here you can see their books, household items, and musical instruments that they used, in particular harp, bandura, kobza. According to the exhibits of the museum, one can trace the history of the origin and development of the Kobzar movement in Ukraine. The museum houses a rare edition of "Words on Igor's Regiment", an illustration for which was made by master Ivan Golikov. Among the exhibits of the museum are musical instruments found during excavations and dated to the 11th – 13th centuries: whistles, bells. The windows of the museum display gusli, lutes, banduras, icons, a Bible, a lamp, dated to the 17th century. Two panels by the artist Yu. G. Legenky are also placed here: "The Ways of the Kobzars - the Ways of the People" and "The Duma - This is the Soul of the People." The mural of the Kobzar family tree is recreated on the panel. Among the exhibits of the museum is a cobza with 20 strings made in the 18th century [1] .
