Karaliz is a village in the Kamyzyaksky district of the Astrakhan region of Russia . The administrative center of the Karalat village council . The population is 1156 [1] people (2010), 93% of them are Russians (2002).

History
The village of Karalat was founded as an illegal settlement in 1764 by immigrants from the supreme provinces. The first four courtyards belonged to Osokin, Markov, Bolonin, Ivanov [2] .
The law of the Astrakhan region dated June 3, 2015 No. 31/2015-OZ [3] , the municipalities “Karalatsky village council” and “Chapayevsky village council” were transformed, through their unification, into a municipal formation “ Karalatsky village council ” with the administrative center in the village of Karalat .
Geography
The village is located within the Caspian lowland in the southern part of the Astrakhan region, in the Volga river delta and is located on an island formed by the rivers Kostyl, Bolshaya Chernyaya, Kizan, Tabola, along a bend on the left bank of the Kostylya and Bolshaya Chernyaya rivers. Northeast is Nightingale Island.

- National and gender composition
According to the All-Russian Census in 2010 , the population was 1,156 people (545 men and 611 women, 47.1 and 52.9%, respectively) [1] .
The population is multinational: Russians, Kazakhs, Tatars, Belarusians, Ukrainians, Avars, Chechens and Lezghins [5] .
According to the results of the 2002 census , Russians constituted 93% of the total population of 1,145 inhabitants in the national population structure [6] .
