Slovtsov, Ivan Yakovlevich

He was born in 1844 in the city of Tyumen in the family of the priest Jacob Slovtsov and his wife. He studied at the Tobolsk gymnasium , then at Kazan University at the faculty of physics and mathematics. In 1865 he came to Omsk to serve in the Main Directorate of Western Siberia, from 1870 he taught natural history. In 1876, Mr .. was at the Congress of Orientalists in St. Petersburg. In 1877 he made an expedition to the Kokchetav uyezd of the Akmola region , from that time Slovtsov began to devote himself more to exploration of Siberia. In the same 1877 there was a census, he spoke not only as a secretary, but also published the results in 2 volumes. In 1879, Slovtsov was appointed the director of the Alexander Alexandrovsky Real School , which was opened in Tyumen, where he worked for 27 years.

In the summer, Slovtsov all the time organized, so to speak, expeditions to the Tavdinsky , Perm and Turin territories , as well as to the Theological Mountain District and Kazakhstan . Excavations in the vicinity of Tyumen, on the shores of Lake Andreevsky in 1883-85.

In 1906, he retired due to illness and went to his son, Boris , in Petersburg. He died on October 19, 1907, was a member of the full state adviser (corresponds to the general). He was buried next to his wife at the Nikolsky cemetery of the Alexander Nevsky Lavra in St. Petersburg.
