Malashichev, Egor Borisovich

Egor Borisovich Malashichev ( June 10, 1973 [1] - December 15, 2018 [2] ) - Russian biologist and neurobiologist. He had a wide range of scientific interests, was engaged in ornithology , and locomotion of reptiles, and asymmetry of the brain of animals. Creator of the scientific journal Biological Communications . The editor's goal was to ensure that the journal entered the international scientific system of Scopus , which happened shortly after his death.

Biography

In 1996 he graduated from the Faculty of Biology and Soil of St. Petersburg State University .

The theme of the Ph.D. thesis: "The structure and development of the sacro-pelvic complex of amniot" [1] .

He worked on grants at western universities and traveled abroad.

He worked as an assistant professor at the Department of Zoology, Faculty of Biology, St. Petersburg State University, and headed the Laboratory of Molecular Neurobiology, Institute of Experimental Medicine (IEM) [3] .

He taught, devoted a lot of time to students and the popularization of science. He died in the arms of his wife, whom he brought a bouquet in honor of the 23rd wedding anniversary.

Family

Egor Borisovich left his wife Anna and three children [1] [4] .

Awards and Prizes

  • Honorary Prize of the European Academy for Young Russian Scientists (2006).
  • He received grants from the President of Russia twice for young candidates of science and scholarships from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation .
