History
The construction of the palace began in 1732 under the direction of architect Benedetto Alfieri. But already in the middle of the century, the architect Jambattista Janotti came to replace him. The main building overlooking the square was built under the guidance of architect Domenico Caselli. The main building was originally built. Subsequently, the northern part of the palace was built, and only in the second half of the 19th century - the southern wing. The construction of the palace was completed in the second half of the XIX century. Despite this, the whole building is made in the same style.
In the middle of the 19th century, administrative services were located in the palace building. Today, the prefecture of the city of Alessandria is located in the palace building.
