Biography
Born October 17, 1885 in Samara.
Member of the RSDLP since 1904, member of three Russian revolutions and the Civil War.
She graduated from the University of Lausanne, where she defended her doctoral dissertation (1913), and Moscow University.
In the years 1921-1930. in managerial work in the system of the Supreme Economic Council of the USSR . In the 1920s, she was one of the first to point out the value of radium for military equipment.
Since 1923, she worked at the IPM - Institute of Applied Mineralogy. In 1924, she was one of the founders of the Department of Rare Elements at IPM, which she later headed. In 1925-1929, the head of the Union Trust "Rare Elements".
One of the organizers and in 1931-1934 the first director of the State Research Institute of Rare Elements of the All-Union Association of Rare Elements and Fine Metallurgy of the Supreme Economic Council of the USSR (Giredmet, future Radium Institute of the Ministry of Atomic Energy and Industry).
Under her leadership, the USSR began the industrial mining and processing of uranium ores. Organized the development of industrial methods for producing uranium, tungsten, vanadium, strontium. In addition, she was engaged in research in the field of inert gases.
At a personal request, on September 27, 1934, she was relieved of her duties as director of Giredmet for health reasons.
She died on December 16, 1935 in Moscow.
