“Anna-Maria” ( Ukrainian: Anna-Maria ) is the Ukrainian musical duet of twin sisters Anna and Maria Opanasyuk, founded in 2004. The duet performs original music in the styles of pop rock , indie rock and funk [2] . Sisters are “Honored Artists of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea” (2005).

Biography
Twin sisters Anna and Maria were born on January 15, 1988 in Simferopol in maternity hospital No. 1 [3] [4] . Father Alexander Dmitrievich Opanasyuk - judge (since 2016 - retired). Mother Larisa Nikolaevna Opanasyuk - Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Crimea since 2014 [5] [6] .
Studied at a music school in piano [7] . Graduated from Simferopol Gymnasium No. 1 named after Ushinsky [8] . After graduation, the girls entered the National Law University of Ukraine named after Yaroslav the Wise in Kharkov. Anna and Maria also entered the Academy of Pop and Circus Arts. Leonid Utyosov (Kiev) [9] .
Since 2004, the sisters have been performing as a musical duet. The first recital took place in Simferopol when they were 16 years old, and they transferred the proceeds from the concert to the restoration of the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral in Simferopol [10] .
At the age of seventeen, they were awarded the honorary title “Honored Artist of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea” as soloists of the Crimean Accord ensemble [11] .
In 2007, the duo reached the final of the eighth season of the television project "Chance", where they lost to Inna Voronova [12] . In the summer of 2007, Anna and Maria gave three recitals in Crimea, including one together with the Scriabin band in Simferopol [13] .
Girls shot their first video for the song “Spin Me” in February 2009 at the Kiev night club “Sorry, Grandma” [14] .
In March 2009, the sisters were awarded the title of "Kharkovite of the Year" [15] .
Participated in the first season of the TV show “ Voice of the Country ” in the team of Alexander Ponomarev [16] . In 2011, the sisters starred in the movie Beauty 2.0 [17] .
In December 2013, the duet performed at Euromaidan in Kiev [18] . In June 2014, the girls were invited to become the face of the BAON brand, but Anna and Maria refused to cooperate because of the participation in the project of Ivan Okhlobystin [19] [20] [21] [22] .
In October 2016, the sisters participated in a charity festival in Kropyvnytskyi “Help the child live” [23] .
On November 16, 2018, Anna Maria presented a video for the song Ukrainian. “Why?” [24] .
On February 16, 2019, the duo performed in the second semifinal of the Eurovision national selection with the song “My Road” and reached the final of the selection.
On February 21, 2019, in an interview with Roman Skrypin on ATR, the girls several times avoided a direct answer to the journalist's question “Whose Crimea?”, And to Skrypin’s question “Are we having a war with Russia?” Maria answered as follows: “ We have it called ATO . We are not members of the president’s secretariat, but musicians ” [25] .
After this interview, the social movement “ ” invited the organizers of the national selection to suspend the Anna-Maria duet from participating in the evasive answer to the question “Whose Crimea?” And their parents’s work on the “occupying” Russian government in Crimea. This position was supported by the Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Vyacheslav Kirilenko [26] [27] [28] . Journalist Ayder Muzhdabaev called the sisters “traitors to Ukraine” [29] [30] .
In the final of the competition on February 23, 2019, one of the participants in the duet said: “ In fact, we made our choice a long time ago, our parents made our own and we can’t influence it. But these are all the same our parents whom we love and whom we respect. Indeed, if we had the question of choosing a competition or parents, like any normal person, we would choose parents. I think that people will understand us in this. We are Ukrainian singers, we were born in Crimea, we sing and work in Crimea, we did not violate any laws of Ukraine, we did nothing wrong, we adhered to the rules of National selection and, moreover, during that time we did not give concerts in Russia ” [31 ] [32] [33] .
As a result, the duo took the last sixth place in the national selection of Eurovision [34] .

Personal life
In 2016, Maria married sound engineer Vadim Vyazovsky. Currently, he is organizing duet concerts [35] .
