Biography
Athanasius Topolsky was educated at the Kiev Theological Academy , then tonsured a monk and was a teacher and prefect since 1736 at the Kharkov College [1] .
In 1740, Athanasius Topolsky was elevated to the rank of Archimandrite of the Belgorod Nikolaevsky Monastery; in 1742 he was moved to the Sevsky Spassky Monastery, but on September 22 of the same year Topolsky was appointed rector of the Kharkov Collegium and archimandrite of the Kharkov Pokrovsky Monastery [1] .
Two of his words are best known: β On the 7th week on Easter β ( Moscow , 1742) and β On the transfer of the relics of the Holy Right Prince Alexander Nevsky β (Moscow, 1742). The latter speaks of the merits of Peter the Great and of the changes that followed with the reign of Elizabeth, who removed from the throne β alien milking houses that themselves had eradicated with blood β [1] [2] .
Athanasius Topolsky died in March 1744.
