Leptanilla israelis (lat.) Is a species of small ants of the genus Leptanilla from the subfamily Leptanillinae ( Formicidae ). Endemic of Israel [1] .

Description

Small-sized ants, males with 13-segmented antennae (male body length about 1.2 mm). Head 1.2 times as long as wide. The eyes are located at the base of the antennae. The scapus is 3 times longer than its width. Antennal cushions and antennae club absent, antenna attachment site open and located near the front edge of the head. Scape of antennae short (shorter than head). There is no methanotal groove. Close to the species Leptanilla bifurcata , L. tanit and L. tenuis , differing in the structure of the genitals. Female caste (females and workers) not found. The species was described according to the caste of winged males from Israel in 1987 by entomologist Jehoshua Kugler (Jehosua Kugler; 1916-2007), professor at Tel Aviv University [1] [2] [3] .
