Stadium History
For some time, on the stadium wall, a portrait of Ulster loyalist activist Billy Wright flaunted, as the club's fans were predominantly Protestant by religion. In 2006, he was erased to avoid provocations, and in his place painted a portrait of George Best [1] .
At the end of 2008, the MET Steel tribune was opened at the stadium in honor of the club’s well-known sponsor, the capacity of the tribune is 1,840 people, and 1.8 million pounds were spent on everything. The field was moved to the exit of Chalet from the stadium so that the fans could better see the players and events on the field. In February 2009, 800 lux floodlights were installed in the corners of the field. The club plans to demolish the old stand with standing places and set up a new one with seats, but it currently lacks funds.
International meetings
The Irish Football Association has decided that the stadium will play youth and youth teams of Northern Ireland. So, on March 31, 2009 there was a match of the youth teams of Northern Ireland and Ukraine [2] . November 24 of the same year as part of the International Challenge Trophy tournament The match of the Northern Ireland national team under 23 years old against the amateur national team of Wales took place [3] .
In April 2014, the match of the Northern Ireland women's team against Sweden was held at the stadium, which ended in a 4-0 victory for the guests. Sweden coach Marika Domanski-Lufors stated that the stadium is absolutely unsuitable for matches of national teams, because the lawn seemed very slippery to its players, and its premises seemed to be “thrown back in the 1980s” [4]
