Biography
Ute Wild was born on June 14, 1965 in the city of Chopau , East Germany . She was trained in Potsdam at the Dynamo Sports Club, and was a ward of the eminent mentor Jörg Landfoigt .
For the first time she declared herself in rowing in 1982, speaking at the world championship among juniors in Italy - she took fourth place in the steering fours program. A year later, at similar competitions in France, she won a gold medal in the same discipline.
The first serious success at the adult international level was achieved in the 1986 season, when she joined the main team of the East German national team and attended the World Championships in Nottingham , from where she brought the silver dignity, won in the classification of oar steering eights.
In 1987, at the World Championships in Copenhagen, she became a silver medalist in wheelless deuces.
Thanks to a series of successful performances, she was awarded the right to defend the honor of the country at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul - as part of the team, which also included rowers Annegret Strauch , Judit Zeidler , Catherine Hacker , Anya Kluge , Beatrix Schroere , Ute Stange , Ramona Baltazarla Nula and Rulea , took first place in the women's eights, thereby winning the Olympic gold medal. For this outstanding achievement at the end of the season she was awarded the Order of Merit to the Fatherland in Gold [1] .
After the Seoul Olympics, Wild remained in the GDR rowing team and continued to take part in major international regattas. So, in 1989 at the World Championships in Bled, she won a silver medal in the steering eights, losing only to the Romanian team at the finish line.
At the 1990 World Championships in Tasmania, she received bronze in the eights program.
Having completed her sports career, she later worked in the food industry.
