Gordesk is an old Russian city in the Kiev principality on the Teteriv River. Mentioned in the chronicles under the year 1257 as one of the cities, against which Daniel Galitsky sent his son Shvarna with the army.
The settlement , identified with Gorodesk, is located near the village of Gorodskoye, Zhytomyr region [1] . It consists of three fortified parts, called the Big and Small Settlement, as well as the Red Mountain. All of them were archaeologically investigated, but the Small Town is the most studied. Among the found residential and business complexes identified workshops foundry-jeweler and potter . Archaeologists have found numerous samples of tools for labor and decoration. Most of the materials date from the XII - XIII centuries. At the base of the fortification shaft were two rows of oak stands , the inner ones of which were adapted to live.
