It was established by order of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia dated January 27, 1995 No. 28 “On the establishment of the badge of internal troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia“ For Distinction in the Service ”” [1] . It was re-established by order of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia dated October 31, 2012 No. 989 “On departmental insignia of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation” in connection with the reform of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia [2] . Canceled on April 5, 2016 [3] in connection with the transformation of the internal troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation into the troops of the national guard of the Russian Federation .

Award Rules
According to the Regulation, the breastplate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia "For Distinction in Service" is awarded to:
- servicemen of the internal troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the initiative, zeal and distinction shown in the performance of their tasks of protecting public order, ensuring public safety and the legal regime of the state of emergency, protecting important state facilities and special cargoes, while escorting convicts and persons in custody; for active participation and distinction shown during the period of engaging in the fulfillment of tasks to eliminate the consequences of accidents, catastrophes, fires, natural disasters and other emergency situations ; for high performance in combat training;
- other citizens for assisting the internal troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in carrying out the tasks assigned to them.
The badge consists of two degrees:
- Breastplate “For Distinction in Service”, I degree;
- Breastplate “For distinction in service”, II degree.
The highest degree of the badge is I degree.
Awarding with a badge is made sequentially: II degree, I degree.
Wear Rules
The badge is worn on the right side of the chest below the state awards of the Russian Federation.
Character Description
The badge is a four-pointed cross with expanding ends, covered with speckled enamel on the front side, against the background of diverging faceted rays with crossed swords embedded in the scabbard , the arms turned upwards. The dimensions between the ends of the cross are 43 mm.
The central part of the cross is occupied by a round medallion with a diameter of 25 mm with an inscription around it on a white enamel background: “For the difference in service” - in the upper part, “VV of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia” - in the lower part.
In the center of the circle is a relief image of a Russian foot warrior striking a serpent with a spear, as a symbol of the struggle between good and evil.
Breastplate of the I degree is made of yellow metal, II degree - of white metal.
On the back of the breastplate for attaching to clothes there is a threaded pin with a nut.
