Etymology
There are many versions of the origin of the name of the village. Most of them are folk legends.
According to the first version, the village was founded by a Hindu , who was the brother-in-law of the famous Azerbaijani poet Fizuli , who conducted a canal ( Azeri arx ) from the village of Boyat to the village of Gindarkh.
According to the second version, the village was founded by a certain Veli named Hind (from Azeri - “Indian, Hindu”), who led a canal from the village of Boyat.
According to the third version, which most researchers adhere to, the name comes from the word hind , which means black in some dialects of the Azerbaijani language, and the word arch (from Azeri - “channel”).
