Tahti (stadium, Tehran)

Tahti Stadium ( Pers. ورزشگاه تختی ) is a multifunctional stadium located in eastern Tehran ( Iran ). It is used primarily for football matches. The arena seats 30,122 people and was opened in 1973. In the 2000s, the Takhti stadium underwent changes: a new grass field and seating areas appeared. It serves as the home arena for the Saipa Pro-League club [1] . The stadium is named after Gholamreza Tahti , one of the most famous Iranian fighters.

History

Tahti is the fifth largest stadium built in eastern Tehran. It was erected for the 1974 Asian Summer Games , as part of the Takhti sports complex. The construction of the stadium began in June 1968, its project was developed by the Iranian-Italian architect Jahangir Darvish . The arena was opened on June 3, 1973 and was named Farah, in honor of Farah Pahlavi , the then shahban (empress) of Iran. Almost two years after the opening of the Munich Olympic Stadium in 1968 for the 1972 Summer Olympics, the International Skeleton Magazine Baucn und wohncn paper wrapping published an article about Tahti Stadium and named the stadium one of the most modern stadiums in the world. Tahti Sports Complex is currently the second best in Tehran after the Azadi Sports Complex [2] .

Events

Tahti Stadium was used during the 1974 Asian Summer Games as a backup venue. He also hosted all the matches (except the finals) of the 2008 West Asia Football Federation Championship , the winner of which was the Iranian national team . The 2010 Islamic Solidarity Games were to be held in Tahti, but were eventually canceled.

The final match of the Iran Cup in the season 2014/2015 was held on June 1, 2015 at the Takhti stadium, in which Zob Ahan defeated Naft Tehran .
