As part of the Chilean national team, he participated in the 1939 Chess Olympiad (the devastating victory over G. Danielsson for the Spanish magazine Gran Ajedrez was later commented on by world champion A. A. Alekhine . Alekhine called Reed “one of the discoveries of the Olympiad” [1] ).
Member of several major tournaments held in South America.
