Tau Cygni (τ Cyg, τ Cygni, τ Cygni) is a binary star system in the constellation Cygnus , at a distance of 68 light-years from Earth [7] with a circulation period of 49.6 years. [2]

The system components are the yellow-white subgiant GJ 822.1 A with the spectral class F2IV and the yellow star of the main sequence GJ 822.1 B with the spectral class G0V. The surface temperature of the main component is from 6000 to 7500 K. It is larger, hotter and several times brighter than the Sun. [8] The second component in size, luminosity and surface temperature is similar to the Sun. [9] Visible magnitudes are 3.84 and 6.44, respectively.

The amplitude of the change in the total brightness of the components of Tau Cygnus is in the range from 3.65 to 3.75 magnitude, although only component A is variable. [1] This feature allows us to classify Tau Cygnus as a variable of type δ Shield .
