Kakun ( Arab. قاقون ) is a large ruined Arab village in Emek-Hefer , six kilometers from Tul-Karem . The area of the village for 1945 was 41 767 dunums, 1970 people lived in it [2] [3] .

There is evidence that this place was inhabited in the period of the New Aso - Syrian Empire . The ruins of the crusader and Mamluk fortress still stand on the territory of the former village [4] . Kakun was continuously inhabited by Arabs at least since the Mamluk era [4] .
The village originated around the Mamluk fortress. During the War of Independence of Israel , in 1948, the village was depopulated [5] .
