The American Heart Association (AHA) is a not- for - profit organization in the United States sponsoring medical research in the field of cardiology, educational projects on healthy lifestyles [1], and promoting appropriate medical care to reduce disability and mortality due to cardiac diseases. It was originally established in New York in 1924 as the Association for the Prevention and Relief of Heart Diseases [2] , but is currently headquartered in Dallas, Texas . The American Heart Association is a national voluntary health agency.

The association is known for publishing guidelines on cardiovascular disease and prevention, and in 2014 the first recommendations on the prevention of strokes in women were issued [3] . Carries out campaigns in the field of public services, since the 1970s, fundraising events.
