Rovenosa rasnitsyni ( lat. ) Is a fossil species of riders , the only one in the monotypic genus Rovenosa from the family Ichneumonidae (subfamily Stilbopinae ). Rivne amber (Ukraine, Late Eocene , about 35 Ma) [1] .

DescriptionSmall hymenopteran ichneumonoid riders. Body length 5.5 mm, front wing length 3.75 mm. The head is spherical with large eyes. The forehead between the bases of the antennae is flat without keels. Labial palps 4-segmented. Notauli are developed, sternauli are absent. Claws of legs are simple. The metasome is cylindrical. The ovipositor is short; its length is 1.2 mm [1] .
Classification and EtymologyRovenosa is similar to the genus Panteles . The species was first described in 2011 by Russian entomologist Andrei Ivanovich Khalaim ( ZIN RAS , St. Petersburg and Universidad Autónoma de Tamaulipas , Tamaulipas , Mexico ). The taxon is named after the Russian professor Alexander Pavlovich Rasnitsyn [1] [2] .
