Biography

Grigory Mikhailovich Levin was born on October 25, 1917 in the city of Khorol ( Poltava province ).

  • [ when? ] He graduated from the Newspaper College. N. Ostrovsky at the Institute of Journalism [1] in Kharkov .
  • 1941 - graduated with honors from the philological department of the university in the same place.
    • I didn’t get to the front due to poor vision.
    • After the war he graduated with honors from the Literary Institute. Gorky in Moscow,
      • then graduate school.
  • 1946 - Created the literary association " Magistral " and led it until October 31, 1994, - until the end of his life.

For the first decades, the “Highway” was located in the Central House of Culture of Railway Workers and was formally considered its circle [2] .

Levin developed a system of studio classes, which included lectures on the history and theory of literature. Moreover, the circle of poets and writers that were discussed in the classroom was not limited to the names permitted in the Soviet Union.

Here forbidden and disgraced authors were revered and dismantled, complete freedom of creativity and speech reigned here. It is no coincidence that they called themselves Grigory Mikhailovich "the chairman of the Feast during the Plague." As a dissenting phenomenon that does not fit into the generally accepted framework, the association suffered persecution, verification, suspicion and discontent from the arbiters of human destinies. It was closed several times [3] .

He died in 1994.

  • Wife - Inessa Efimovna Mironer (1921-2012), poet and translator, sister of screenwriter and film director Felix Mironer .
    • Son - poet, songwriter Vladimir Ivelev (1942-1994).
