Biography
The son of a Galician officer. Educated at Theresian Academy . In 1830, he became a lieutenant in the General Staff of the Imperial-Royal Army of the Austrian Empire .
In 1848, during the revolution, in the rank of Hauptmann , in October in Vienna he participated in the suppression of the uprising, played an important role in the assault on the imperial court of Hofburg , captured by the rebels. In 1849, a participant in the suppression of the Hungarian uprising , he fought at the Battle of Kapoln .
In 1850 he was promoted to colonel .
In the same year, he headed the information service (Intelligence Department) of the General Staff of the War Ministry.
He was a professor at a military school. With a diplomatic mission sent to the East.
In 1858, Kalik was awarded the honorary title of nobility - Ritter . In 1864 he was promoted to major general . Appointed commander of the brigade with which he participated in the Austro-Prussian-Danish war .
After a long illness, von Kalik died on July 16, 1866 in Alton.
