Content
History and Description
The construction of the museum was started in 2007 on the initiative of the Ministry of Civil Aviation of the People's Republic of China and with the financial support of various organizations and individuals. The main building, made in the form of an aircraft engine, was designed by the German architectural firm OWP Architects [3] . Construction, landscaping and preparation of the exhibition were completed in 2011, the grand opening took place on November 21, 2011 [1] .
The total area of the territory is 189,600 square meters. meters, the building - 15 924 square meters. meters The open-air exposition includes large aircraft, among which are such machines as the Airbus A310-200 , Hawker Siddeley HS-121 Trident , BAe 146 , Xian Y-7 , Li-2 , Curtiss C-46 Commando , Harbin Y-12 , as well as military Chengdu JJ-5 [4] [5] . Inside the building are smaller exhibits - a Mi-8 helicopter, Nanchang Y-5 , Harbin Y-11 airplanes and others [4] [5] . One of the most valuable exhibits is the Il-14 aircraft presented by Stalin and equipped with a luxury cabin used for flights by Mao Zedong [6] .
In addition, the museum contains some other aircraft and a large archive of historical documents, photographs and other materials about the creation and development of civil aviation in China and important events in its history [5] . In the interactive hall, flight simulators for the Airbus A320 , Cirrus SR22 and Boeing 787 aircraft are available to visitors. [5] The museum has three cinemas, including the IMAX cinema [7] .
