The Baden People's Party, BNP ( German: Badische Volkspartei, BVP ) is a regional political party in the German state of Baden-Württemberg , founded on June 5, 1959 in Karlsruhe . Its primary goal was the dissolution of the state of Baden-Württemberg, which has existed since 1952, in order to thereby restore Baden as a separate administrative unit of Germany . Studienrat Robert Albiz [3] became the first chairman of the party.

During the March 1960 elections, the BNP merged with the German Party (PD) . Officially, the coalition was called as DP / BNP. On the ballot she was listed as a DP. The coalition achieved the best result with 4.3% in the administrative district of Freiburg [4] . In September of that year, the BNP ceased cooperation with the PD. After a referendum in 1970 , at which citizens voted to continue the existence of Baden-Württemberg, the party self-dissolved [1] .
Heinrich Berggötz was elected in 1959 the sole representative of the BNP in the city council of Karlsruhe [5] [1] .
