About the mosque
The mosque was built in Sheki, in the Ganjali quarter. Exact information about the date of construction of the mosque has not been preserved. The total area of the mosque is 660 m². In plan, the mosque has a quadrangular shape and consists of 2 floors. On the ground floor there are auxiliary rooms. On the second floor there is a prayer hall, the area of which is 26x13 meters. The mosque was built of burnt bricks . The thickness of the walls is 75 cm. Imam Ali Mosque has retained its original appearance. However, after the establishment of Soviet power in Azerbaijan , during the years of repression, the minaret of the Imam Ali mosque was destroyed and the mosque ceased to function. In 1994, the mosque was resumed by the Cultural Center of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Baku. And only in 1997 the minaret and altar of the mosque were rebuilt. The height of the current minaret is 22 meters. The minaret, like the mosque itself, is made of wife brick. [2]
