The Kazim Garabakir Pasha Mosque ( Azeri. Kazım Qarabəkir Paşa məscidi ) is a temple and architectural monument located in the city of Nakhchivan , Azerbaijan . The mosque was built with the support of the Turkish Religious Foundation in honor of Kazim Garabekir Pasha - commander of the Eastern Front of the Turkish army, who showed courage and valor during the liberation of Nakhichevan from the Armenian aggression in 1918-1919 . About mosques
The construction of the mosque building was started on September 20, 1995 . The architect of the mosque was Chingiz Sechkin, and the project engineer was Hamid Turaj. The opening of the mosque took place on October 13, 1999 . The opening of the mosque was attended by President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev and daughter Kazim Garabekir Pasha - Timsal Garabekir. At the opening Heydar Aliyev made a speech. The architecture of the mosque combines two styles - classic Ottoman and Byzantine. The portal of the entrance door is located on the northern part of the mosque building. Facing the walls of the facade is made of Karadag stone. The area of the mosque is 550 square meters, together with the courtyard the area is 13 thousand square meters. The architecture of the mosque has 2 minarets whose height is 38 meters. On the first floor of the three-story building there is a central hall and ancillary facilities, on the second floor there is a male prayer hall, the third floor is designed for women. Total capacity is 1000 people. In the southern part of the mosque is a mihrab - a prayer niche. Ayaty from the Koran is engraved on the marble slabs around the mihrab in Arabic . The windows of the mosque are made in stained glass technique.
On the facade above the main entrance to the mosque there is an inscription in Arabic and Turkish that says: “The Kazim Garabekir Pasha mosque was built by the Turkish Religious Foundation, donations from Turks living in Belgium, as a gift of brotherhood to the people of Nakhchivan. 1997 [4]
