Hubert von Meyerink ( German: Hubert von Meyerinck ; August 23, 1896 , Potsdam , German Empire - February 13, 1971 , Hamburg , Germany ) - German film and theater actor . Winner of the Bambi Prizes (1967), Deutscher Filmpreis (1960, 1961) and German Film Awards (1968).

Biography
The son of a Prussian officer. He grew up on his father's estate in the province of Posen . In his youth, he took acting lessons, much to the displeasure of his parents, who counted on his career as a clergyman.
He was called up for military service. The cadet participated in the First World War, but due to lung disease, he was soon dismissed from service.
Creativity
In 1917 he made his debut on the stage of Konzerthaus (Berlin) . In the years 1918-1920 - actor of the Hamburger Kammerspiele Theater ( Hamburg ). He played in a cabaret , participated in a revue .
Since 1920 - an actor of silent films . Thanks to the characteristic appearance with a high forehead and mustache, he often emphasized his hypnotic facial expression, putting on a monocle , he soon began to play the main roles. With the end of the era of silent cinema, he was able to continue his career in sound films with his unmistakable hoarse voice [4] . Role - the role of villains and charlatans.
H. von Meyerink was a homosexual , because of which he risked being imprisoned by the Nazi authorities, however, he continued to appear in numerous entertaining films of the Third Reich .
After the end of World War II, Meyerink remained one of the most sought-after actors in West German cinema. He continued to play in theaters, since 1966 - in the team of the Thalia Theater in Hamburg.
