Biography
The son of a priest. He studied at the Bethany Theological Seminary (1836) and the Moscow Theological Academy (1840). For academic success, he was awarded the Pavlovsk Prize [1] . He was also awarded a scholarship from Metropolitan Plato (Levshin) with the right to be called “Platonov” . At the end of the course in September 1840 he was left at the Academy with a bachelor of civil history; since May 1841 - Master .
In July 1842 he was transferred to the Kazan Theological Academy - to the post of full professor in the department of philosophical sciences.
In 1847, upon request, he was transferred to the Moscow Diocesan Department and in 1848 he was appointed priest of the "Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker in the Pillars . " At the same time, he was appointed the law teacher at the Lazarevsky Institute of Oriental Languages . Then he served in the Church of the Resurrection in Barash .
In October 1857, I. A. Smirnov-Platonov was appointed rector of the Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross Exaltation in St. Petersburg .
