General elections in Cuba were held on July 14, 1940 [1] . The president was a candidate from the People's Socialist Coalition Fulgencio Batista . In the parliamentary elections, the Authentic Party won, becoming the largest fraction of the House of Representatives from 34 of 162 seats. The turnout was 73.4% [2] .
