Biography
In 1973 he graduated from Padua University , where he studied political science and economics, later taught in Venice and later in Rome. He was an economic adviser to several governments - Craxi , Amato and Champi . Due to the nature of the recommendations of the Ministry of Labor in the area of employment and income strategies, it has received threats from the Red Brigades and has been under police protection since 1983. In political terms, he sympathized with the Socialist Party for some time and collaborated, in addition to Craxi, with Jannie de Michelis , but began his own political career in 1999 by electing to the European Parliament on the lists of the Forward Italy party, in 2004 he was re-elected, again by lists Berlusconi's games [1] .
From 2008 to 2018, he served in the Chamber of Deputies of Italy of the 16th and 17th convocations, was a member of the Forward Italy party and the center-right party The People of Freedom , after splitting in 2013 with Berlusconi in the revived Forward Italy . From 2013 to 2018 headed the faction.
From May 8, 2008 to November 16, 2011, he served in the fourth Berlusconi government as minister without a portfolio for public service and innovation.
First of all, he is known as the initiator of the government decree No. 112 of June 25, 2008, nicknamed “the Brunetta decree” by his name (on August 6, 2008, the parliament issued it as ). The decree was also called “anti-lazy”, because one of its points tightened the requirements for the admission of working days by state employees for health reasons (a pass of more than 10 days or a third during a year for health reasons required confirmation from a licensed medical institution, but an application for a follow-up visit should be submitted even if one working day was omitted).
On March 4, 2018, he was elected to the Chamber of Deputies of the 18th convocation, again with the support of the center-right coalition within the League of the North , Forward, Italy and Brothers of Italy parties, not in the list, but in the 1st single-seat district of Venice , receiving 49, 1% of the vote. The strongest of his rivals was the candidate of the Movement of five stars, Abrami Antonino, with the support of 24.8% of voters [2] .
