History
The house, which now houses the Orbigny-Bernon Museum, was built in the 19th century at 2 rue Saint Côme [1] . The exact date of construction: 1893, it was built for the merchant Alcide Orbigny-Bernon, who lived in 1835-1907. He was mayor of the city in 1893-1905 and served as president of the Chamber of Commerce in 1891-1906. After his death, his widow left this house, and the city municipality decided to create a museum in this place in 1921 because of the importance and value of the architectural structure [2] .
The museum's collection is represented by exhibits that are related to the years 1573, 1627-1628 and the period of the Second World War. The museum has preserved various products from ancient faience and porcelain. The second floor is reserved for exhibits - objects of art from the countries of Southeast Asia [1] . Among the items in the museum there are those that are inlaid with ivory, gold, dated 1640. An exhibition was opened at the Orbigny-Bernon Museum, which included items bequeathed to the museum by Baron de Chassiron in 1871 [3] .
The house in which the museum is located belongs to the historical monuments of France [4] . It is a typical example of civil architecture of the XIX century. The house has a patio. A corner tower connects the central wing with the main building [2] .
