The Protestant Museum (fr. History
The Protestant Museum in La Rochelle is located at rue St-Michel, 2 [1] in the city center [3] .
It was founded in 1931 by pastor Samuel Einard. In 1995, the museum carried out repairs [4] .
Museum exhibits tell its visitors about the history of the development of Protestantism in three cities: Sentong, Rochelle, Onis. Some exhibits of the museum date back to the 16th century - the period when the Huguenots were influential here. In the museum you can get acquainted with ancient books, manuscripts, prints and other objects that are related to religion in La Rochelle [1] [5] .
Museum exhibits include pottery from the workshop of French ceramic artist Bernard Palissy , tapestry “The Ten Commandments of the Law of God” dated 1779 [3] , documents relating to the siege of the city in 1627–1628, an alleged portrait of the Duchess of Rohan, Catherine de Partney (Fr. Catherine de Partenay ) [4] .
The museum is open from mid-June to mid-September from 14:30 to 18:00. Sunday is a day off [1] .
Entrance to the museum is paid. A ticket costs 4 euros for adults, for visitors 18-23 years old the price is 2 euros, admission is free for children under 18 years old [3] .
The museum has a small library. Here are kept works that are dated to the XVII-XVIII centuries, there is a collection of Bibles in different languages of Europe [4] .
