Gran Morelos ( isp. Gran Morelos ) is a municipality in Mexico , Chihuahua with the administrative center in the village of San Nicolas de Carretas . The population, according to the 2010 census, was 3,209 .

General Information
The name Gran Morelos from Spanish can be translated as the Great Morelos , given in honor of the national hero and Mexican independence fighter José Maria Morelos [3] .
The area of the municipality is 485 km², which is 0.2% of the total area of the state [4] , and the highest point is 1951 meters, located in the settlement of San Juan de Echeversese [1] .
It borders with other municipalities of Chihuahua: in the north with Cuauhtemoc and Riva-Palacio , in the east with Santa Isabel , in the south with Belisario-Dominguez , and in the west with Kusiuiryachi .

Economy
According to 2000 statistics, the working population is employed by sector in the following proportions: agriculture, cattle breeding and fishing - 43.3%, industry and construction - 25.6%, services and tourism - 29.7%, other - 1.4% [4] .
Infrastructure
According to the statistics of 2010, the infrastructure is developed as follows [4] :
- electrification: 97.6%;
- water supply: 97.4%;
- water disposal: 90.8%.
