History
The coat of arms of Baden-Württemberg was approved after the unification of the two German states ( lands ) Baden-Württemberg and Württemberg-Hohenzollern , which were divided due to various occupation forces after the Second World War in 1952. And in 1952 only the colors of the state were determined - gold and black, but not the coat of arms itself.
On the basis of paragraph 2 of Article No. 24 of the Constitution of April 28, 1954, Parliament adopted the following law, from which it follows:
|
.
Great Coat of Arms
The large coat of arms consists of a golden shield on it, three black lions with red tongues, it is held by a golden deer with red (red) hooves and a golden griffin with red claws. Pedestal or soil from black and yellow stripes. On top of the golden shield, six small emblems indicate the origin of the territory of the state (land). They are located from left to right:
- Coat of arms of Franconia for the former Franconian regions in the northeast:
- It shows the coat of arms of Franconia, called the Fränkischer Rechen (Franconian rake). The emblem depicts a field, apparently divided by dancers and argentists, that is, it is divided into an upper red strip and a lower white strip by a three-pointed zigzag line [3] .
- Coat of arms of the Hohenzollern dynasty for the former lands of the Hohenzollern :
- The second shield shows the coat of arms of the Hohenzollern. The coat of arms of the Hohenzollern is divided into a cross; the first and third fields are Argentinean (white and silver), the second and fourth are sable (black).
- Coat of arms of Baden for the former territory of Baden:
- The third shield depicts the coat of arms of Baden, a red diagonal strip on the golden shield (in the golden shield, the scarlet band to the left [4] ). Since this is one of the two largest predecessors of the state of Baden-Württemberg , also part of the name of the state, this shield is about 10 percent larger than the others.
- Coat of arms of Württemberg for former Württemberg territory:
- The fourth shield depicts a part of the coat of arms of Württemberg (which previously included the Dissected Shield; in the right gold part are three black deer horns (the old clan coat of arms of the dynasty), in the left gold part are three black lions ( duchy of Swabian ) [5] ) On the gold shield is located three deer horns. Like the coat of arms of Baden, it is also enlarged for the same reasons.
- Coat of arms of Kurpfalz for former lands near Mannheim and Heidelberg :
- The fifth shield depicts the coat of arms of Kurpfalz . On a black background is a yellow lion with red claws, tongue and crown.
- Coat of arms of Front Austria of the former lands of Front Autria in the south:
- The sixth shield shows the coat of arms of Forward Austria : a white horizontal strip on a red field.
Small Coat of Arms
The small coat of arms consists of a golden shield, with battlements, on it are three black lions with red tongues.
