Biography
Born in the village of Gorbovo, Kirensky district, Irkutsk province. After graduating from the Siberian Technological Institute in 1928, his career began. Since 1934, he worked as chief engineer of the Krivbass mines, then deputy director of the Krivoy Rog Mining Institute (1934-1936), director of the Central Asian Industrial Institute (1936), rector of the Leningrad Mining Institute (1937 and 1950-1953), deputy chairman of the Committee for Higher Education under the SNK of the USSR (1937-1941), director of the Alma-Ata Metallurgical Institute (1941), director of the Institute of Non-Ferrous Metals and Gold M.I. Kalinina (1941-1950). Since 1953, he worked at the Moscow Mining Institute (now the Mining Institute NUST “MISiS” ), including the rector (1957–1961), the head of the department, and the professor until retirement (1979).
Scientific activity
Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor A.F. For many years Sukhanov led the Provisional Drilling Commission under the USSR State Committee for Science and Technology, which developed ways to improve the quality of domestic drilling equipment.
He is the author of the general classifications of rocks for drillability and explosiveness and the developer of the scientific basis for compiling local classifications that allow rationing of drilling and blasting operations at specific mining enterprises. Based on these ideas, the USSR Academy of Sciences and the Soyuzvzryvprom trust developed generalized classifications of rocks for drillability and explosiveness for all mining enterprises of the USSR.
Under the leadership of A.F. Sukhanov wrote textbooks for universities on drilling and blasting (Gosgortekhizdat, 1962), rock destruction (Moscow Mining Institute, parts 1-4, 1964; Gosgortekhizdat, 1967, 1st ed .; Nedra, 1983, 2nd ed.) , as well as fundamental articles on the theory of the action of an explosion and the destructive ability of explosive charges.
He prepared 60 candidates and 5 doctors of sciences.
Rewards
He was awarded the Order of the Badge of Honor , medals, the honorary badge " Miner's Glory " of the 1st degree, government and industry awards, honorary badges and diplomas.
