History
Using the experience of creating 81-71M cars (factory designation 2Mt / 3Mt / 4Mt) based on Soviet-made 81-717 / 714 car bodies, in 2003 the Škoda plant in Pilsen was built and in October 2004 [1] an experimental head car was presented , designated 6Mt . The car had a new type of body made of aluminum alloys, as well as a reclining-sliding door. The length of the car was 20 meters, as in the 81-71M, but it was possible to create cars on its base 16 meters long, as in some European subways, or 22 meters, as in some Asian subways. Also, the car had a streamlined frontal part, and its design was developed by the Czech sculptor Frantisek Pelikan [2] .
In 2004, the car was run-in on the plant’s tracks, after which in February 2005 it was handed over for testing to the Kacerov electric depot Prague metro . Subsequently, he was returned to the plant in Pilsen. For various reasons, 6Mt did not go into the series; the only wagon built was equipped with a semi-pantograph and, according to available information, is used on the territory of the plant as a shunting electric locomotive.
The 6Mt wagon project was used by the plant to create other projects, including 18Mt / 19Mt / 20Mt NeVa for the St. Petersburg metro .
