Hurricane (film, 1931)

A large flax mill is being built in one of the regions of Belarus . Seasonal workers organized in the artel on the principle of “residence” are under the decaying influence of their kulaks . There is poor discipline at the construction site, the plan is not systematically implemented . The barracks are dirt, a continuous card game. There is not enough crockery in the dining room. Overalls are not issued. The manager of the construction site, a former fist, refers to the fact that “the state is poor and must be endured,” although the fist-artisan receives boots for a “special reward”.

The onset of winter puts the construction site at risk. Management decides to suspend work until spring. Artisans persuade workers to disperse through the villages. Only one team continues to work shockingly . On the initiative of Rabkor Andrey Koval, advanced workers call the visiting team of the newspaper Zvyazda from Minsk . Together they are engaged in exposing shortcomings. Particular resonance among the workers is caused, in particular, by the ditties about the “affairs” of the farm owner. In response, the artifact fists kill Koval. A special issue of the newspaper is dedicated to the deceased. Nevertheless, part of the workers, yielding to the persuasion of artisans, leaves the construction site. Propaganda posters and portraits of Koval are hanging on their way. In the end, the seasonality manages to return. A new construction director arrives. A subbotnik is organized to warm it. Construction is ongoing.
